| This web site is about the California & Nevada gaming families, the pioneers that started as early as the 1850's. They are casinos that existed before 1931 when Nevada legalized gambling. Nevada's rich mother lode created the money, which created the gambling and prostitution. Places like Virginia City generated cash with very few outlets because of a lack of transportation. Then eventually gaming over took the mining revenues, and slowly legitimized itself. This is a walk through the past, enjoy. |
OldReno.net and the web master provided us with much of our information about the old casinos and the owners. Not all of them wrote books. If you have any questions about Nevada gaming history I recommend you ask Jeff, his email address is LincFitzgerald@yahoo.com |
